Dosing & Safety Guide
Find Your Rhythm · The Island Way
"Start Low, Go Slow"
At Tropical Roots Maui, we believe the best experience is a mindful one. Whether you are enjoying our infused recipes at home or using our products to craft your own. Low and Slow is the island way.
Edibles and drinkables are processed differently by your body than other methods. Understanding the timeline is the single most important thing you can do for a good experience.
It can take anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes to feel the full effects. Your metabolism, body weight, and what you've eaten all play a role.
Resist the urge to have a second helping until at least 90 to 120 minutes have passed. You can always add more — you can't take it back once it's enjoyed.
If you are new to infusions, begin with a micro-dose of 2.5–5mg to see how your body responds before working up. Even experienced users should start low with a new recipe or carrier.
When you use an emulsified infusion like our Infused Island Tea, the onset may be slightly faster than a traditional baked good. This is because the liquid can begin absorbing earlier in your digestive tract.
Mixing with Alcohol: Be mindful when mixing infusions with alcohol. The two can amplify each other's effects significantly. We recommend sticking to the tea and lemonade recipes for the cleanest, most refreshing experience.
Infused MCT oil naturally rises to the top of your drink. Always give your pitcher or glass a vigorous stir or shake before every pour to ensure an even dose. Skipping this step means the first glass might have nearly 0mg, while the final glass could carry 50mg — consistency is key to a controlled experience.
Enjoying an infusion on an empty stomach may lead to a faster, more intense experience. We recommend enjoying your Tropical Roots treats alongside a light snack for a more gradual, comfortable onset.
Keep the Aloha safe for everyone in your home. Infused products should always be treated with the same care as any other adult-only item.
Always use our printable dosage cards or clearly mark your containers with the dose, date, and a visible "Contains Cannabis" warning. Never store infused treats in generic packaging like plain bags where they can be mistaken for regular food.
Store all infused items in a cool, dark place out of reach of children and pets. A locked cabinet or high shelf is ideal.
MCT-based treats like chocolate bark and gummies stay best in the fridge or freezer. Infused drinks keep for 5–7 days refrigerated.
Keep infused MCT oil away from direct heat and sunlight, which can degrade potency over time. Amber glass jars are ideal for storage.
The environment in which you consume the mana dictates the quality of the journey. Prepare your space with intention — comfort, hydration, and a grounding plan will elevate the entire experience.
Always have fresh, non-infused water or an herbal tea nearby. Staying hydrated keeps you grounded and helps smooth the ride from start to finish.
Keep high-quality CBD oil or Black Peppercorns (rich in Caryophyllene) on hand. Chewing a few peppercorns can help mitigate an anxiety spike if a dose feels too heavy — a simple, time-tested grounding technique.
Choose a space where you feel safe and relaxed. Being around trusted people and having calming music, a cozy blanket, or a garden view nearby makes all the difference, especially for first-timers.
Plan ahead: never drive or operate machinery after consuming edibles. Effects can last 4–8+ hours. Settle in and let the journey unfold safely in your sanctuary.
